THE sheep inter-breed title here at Balmoral has gone to the Texel and overall short wool champion, a shearling ewe, Forkins Shakira from Alastair Gault, Newtownabbey, Antrim. Home-bred by Duncryne Ringmaster out of a ewe by Douganhill McFly she was giving Mr Gault his first Balmoral inter-breed title.

YORKSHIRE arable farmer Guy Poskitt has recently taken delivery of 200 hazel trees, inoculated with burgundy truffle spores, which will be used as a trial to see if truffles can be successfully grown in the area.
